All you need to bring to class is a large notebook (that you will only use for English), a pen, and the text being studied.
You may also bring an tablet or laptop - though we won't use these every day.
If you do not have any of these things, you will lose 2 participation points!

Hi all - your essay is due on October 5th.
It must be printed out in MLA format (Times New Roman, 12, 1.5 line space, 1 inch margins, etc.) as well as emailed to me before class. If you are late with either of these then you will get a zero.
It makes sense to do everything by Friday 3rd in order to ensure that there are no slip ups.
Your essay title:
Discuss the meaning or impact of the title of the book as a central, controlling symbol of the story. How does Holden’s wish to be the catcher in the rye help readers understand both his character and the nature of his deep troubles and concerns about life?
(A little tip) Be sure to address the significance of Holden’s misreading of the Robert Burns poem.
