AP Psychology - Course Description
Welcome to another year of AP Psych.
This course is not 'taught' in the classic sense of teaching. I am not a Psychology teacher; I studied Psychology at university for two years before honing in on English. However, a former student approached me and I offered to help him. This escalated into the class being popular and growing.
Your mindset going into this class should be that this is a group study session. We will learn together. Principally, I will present introductions to each unit of the AP, and then expect you to go away study and plan your own teaching sessions for your classmates. This format has the potential to work very well, and I am certain that I can raise my game and bring far more expertise to the class than I did last year. That means, I hope to see more 4s and 5s at the end of the year.
Please note that all members of this class will be obliged to sit the AP exam without exception. If you do not want to take the exam, do not take the class.
AP Psychology is a difficult class, but is ultimately very fulfilling and useful. If you want to study Business, English, Art, History, Social Sciences, Architecture, Landscaping ... Psychology is integral to your understanding of your chosen subject. As long as humans are involved in some way, then Psychology is involved too. This is not a theory based course, like Philosophy, Psychology is a respected science based on empirical and observable data and evidence.
The units are as follows:
As you can see, there is a lot to get through and it will be a challenge. However, many of the units are fascinating and lead to interesting self-referential discussions.
Bring your 'A' game and I will see you in class.
